Neco realeases 2016 national common enterance

– The much awaited 2016 common entrance examination results are out

– The results were released by the body in charge – National Examination Council (NECO)

– Candidates can check their results  for free

NECO announced the release of the 2016 results of the national common entrance examination yesterday, May 19.

In a statement signed by the registrar and chief executive of the examination body, Professor Abdulrashud Garba, NECO urged parents and guardians of the candidates to check the results of their children or wards on the website of the ministry of education.


The website was given as www.fmeinterviewtest.com. NECO stated that checking the result is free of charge.

NECO also called on successful candidates who qualify for the second (interview) test to start the registration of the process immediately.

Part of the statement read: ”Successful candidates who qualify for the second (interview) test should purchase scratch card at the rate of N2,500 only, excluding N50 stamp duty for NECO state offices, after payment into NECO Treasury Single Account TSA (NCEE) in any of the commercial banks; and register for the test on the FME’s website www.fmeinterviewtest.com immediately.”

The registration period is from Monday, May 16 to Friday, June 10 at 12 midnight. The second (interview) test will hold on Saturday, May 18.

Watchers of the Nigerian education sector will hope that this year’s result won’t go the way of the past years which have witnessed the decline in the success rate of students who partake in NECO examinations.

Year after year, student performance in public examinations, such as NECO,  West African Examination Council (WAEC), and the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB), has been in consistent decline with high failure rates.

In 2011, former NECO Registrar Professor Promise Okpala said; “Of the 256,840 registered candidates, 256,827 sat for the examination. No fewer than 51,781 of 235,933 candidates (20.16%) passed English Language; while 87,508 0f the 234,959 candidates (34.18%) who sat for Mathematics had credit pass”.
