According to the latest rumours Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to make Mesut Ozil the highest paid player.

The Arsenal manager is sure that the former Real Madrid star and Germany international will sign a new deal this summer.

According to the numerous reports, Arsenal are keen to tie down the Germany international beyond the expiry date of his existing £140,000-a-week deal in June 2018.

According to the Metro, with add-ons and bonuses, the new deal will hit the £200k-a-week barrier and prove the club’s ambition to keep Ozil.

The 27-year-old feels there is still plenty of time left to discuss a potential renewal. Ozil said: “There is no rush to sign a new contract. My current deal runs until 2018. That is still two-and-a-half years. There are no talks at the moment.”

“I can only say that I am very happy in London. My decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal was the right one,” the player stressed.

He added: “There has not been a single day, apart from whenever I was injured, that I did not feel great here.”
